Understanding Synthetic
& Synthetic Blend

What is Synthetic Oil?

Synthetic oil at its core is just that, oil. It usually comes from the same place conventional oil comes from, deep underground.

Compounds and additives can vary greatly between brands of oil. It’s important you consider what your end goal is for your vehicle. If high performance is what you’re after, synthetic oil is better. If you’re looking to add some protection to an older vehicle that has seen conventional oil most of it’s life, a blend may serve you just fine! What is Synthetic Blend?

Synthetic Blend oils are a mix of conventional motor oil and synthetic base stocks. Using a blended synthetic will give you some of the benefits of using a full synthetic but not all of them. Most engines perform better and last longer when using any synthetic oil over conventional.

Benefits usually include:

  • Better corrosion resistance

  • Engine cleaning

  • Lower cost than synthetic

What is Synthetic Oil?

The main difference between a blended and synthetic is that synthetic is more refined and has more additives. Well, if it’s anything like the food we eat, do we really want these additives? The simple answer is YES

Using a synthetic has some serious benefits!

  • Less internal friction

  • Reduced deposits

  • Additives boost protection / clean the engine

  • Better operation in cold weather

  • Less impurities
